Whocast #13a - 06.21.05

Reviewing The Series Finale - The Parting of the Ways

Great Episode - 4 TARDIS out of 5

Can't get all of it into 1 podcast, so I'm splitting it up into two (just like the episode)
Whocast 13b will be out tomorrow.

Enjoy!

P.S. Happy Birthday to my sister, Chelle!

Hi Tom, Another great Podcast, and I am glad that you only rated 4/5. Great episode yes! but as good as the hype. No.
The indestructible Tardis comment, perhaps Rose hasn't seen all the old episodes. Does she know that it can withstand the Dalek Missile.
The Emperor Dalek looked great, and I thought the Daleks were scary again. What a transormation cliche to killer in one easy step courtesy of RTD. I am surprised you didn't comment on Captain Jack kissing the Doctor. You wouldn't have got away with that years ago!! Again it just shows how this show has GROWN UP. By the way have you seen on the BBC web site that Michael Grade (The man who originally cancelled Who in 1986) has sent a congratulatory E mail to all concerned with this outstanding series. Looking forward to your next podcast.

I enjoyed Whocast 12 "Who is Bad Wolf". This was in MP3 format from your archive. The Whocast 13a appears to be in mpeg format (hence the Quicktime plugin comming up when I started listening to it in my browser). I was expecting a download prompt. Most people downloading this will be expecting an MP3 file. Unless of course iPods don't allow downloads of MP3's to the player...? Is iTunes this restrictive? I am curently storing podcasts on my hard drive. I do not have an iPod but another USB memory stick MP3 player, that definitely plays MP3's NOT mpegs.

Sorry about this but I imagine some people might not like the non standard format.

Hi Declan!

The format for all my podcast are .mp3. I actually use iTunes to format the .mp3 with the ID3 tags. It does always come up on a Mac-based browser as a quicktime file, since that is what plays the .mp3s by default. You normally do not get a prompt unless you right-click (or Ctrl-Click) the link. In Windows, I am not sure how this would come up. Any questions, email me directly at podcastwho@gmaiil.com

Nice commentary on the episode. You certainly know your Who.

As for the TARDIS no longer being indestructable, either Rose didn't know or it's not. If the TARDIS had some type of connection to Gallifrey and Gallifrey is now gone, then what is to say the rules of the TARDIS haven't changed.

And I think the temporal grace thing was something fun that they came up with for the Tom Baker story, Hand of Fear, but otherwise it's been pretty much ignored, except but the fandom. LOL
