Whocast #8 - 06.03.05

Finally got around reviewing "The Unearthly Child" - Episode 1

I wanted to try something new with these reviews of the original series. I think you'll like the format, but it still isn't up to the quality that I would like it to be.

When the In-Laws leave, I'll be better prepared and equipped for the next review.
Thanks for all the email and comments - please keep them coming.

Here's that link to the Wikipedia page on Doctor Who

Enjoy!

G'Day Tom,
I have just finished listen to your whocast of the Unearthly Child on my IPOD on the train to work. I live in Sydney Australia and thought the Whocast was excellent. I have seen next to no early DW, having started from the Pertwee era on. I have read many tv novels on the early 2 doctors but it was great to hear the actual sounds/voices.
Over the years I have collected many books and DVD's and consider myself a big fan since I was a boy watching the show in the 70's.
The new series has just started here, we are up to episode 4.
Keep up the great work, I enjoy the personalised nature of the Whocast, almost a part of your family, as we travel with you in your car on a rainy day, spend time with the in laws and move house.
As an aside, I have become a big fan of your NFL, enjoying the games on cable over here. Go the Colts!
Thanks and best wishes

Really enjoyed this review of Podcast 8. I'm sorry but when I hear that Tardis noise it till sends a shiver down my spine. I enjoy your take on the episodes, because everyone has their own way of looking at it, so I like the format, Keep them coming. One interesting bit of trivia for you on Police Boxes there was a court case 2 or 3 years ago between the London Metropolitan Police and the BBC over copyright of the Police Box. The BBC won. The police box has nothing to do with the police. Its a time machine!
Finally, think about it who would have thought of a 40 year adventure travelling throughout the universe in a piece of street furniture

Tom,

The original pilot was not broadcast in October. An Unearthly Child (part one) was originally broadcast twice, the second time right before the second part of the story the following week. The Pilot you mentioned was not broadcast in 1963.
